Heinz Neumärker
He was one of the very few who set himself the task of documenting circus life in the second half of the 20th century closely and comprehensively. This project lasted
over 50 years and began in the 1950s and ended at the beginning of this century. Hardly anyone else has dedicated themselves to this subject for so long and so intensively in a photo
project.
‘Preserving for posterity’ was Heinz Neumärker's answer to the question of “Why?” time and again. With this in mind, the photo archive is now being processed by his son Carsten Neumärker. To date, a series of publications have been produced, focussing on both the cultural and photographic aspects of the work.
